Good morning and welcome to the WODDITY podcast for news about CrossFit. We are a daily podcast, Monday through Friday, doing CrossFit news in five minutes or less.

My name is Ben Garves and today is Friday, the 4th of October, 2019.

Justine Beath has announced she is pregnant. In a post to Instagram with a pregnant Bitmoji, Beath writes, “An accurate representation of me today until April 2020. Growing boobs, a belly AND a baby.”

Morning Chalk Up has done the math for you, and put together a chart of what the top ten male and female athletes in CrossFit made in prizes during the 2019 season. Topping the is list fittest man and woman on earth Mat Fraser and Tia-Clair Toomey. They both took home over $400,000 this year.

To give you an idea for how little money is in the sport, that number drops down to $140,000 for second-place athletes Kristin Holte and Noah Ohlsen. Tenth-fittest athletes Jacob Heppner and Amanda Barnhart took home just over $30,000. To see the full breakdown, you can find the link to the article in my show notes at WODDITY.com.

We continue to receive a slow stream of details about the 2020 CrossFit Open workout announcements. I will be doing live feeds to accompany the english announcements each week. You can follow our live stream of 20.1 with Scott Panchik and Rich Froning on our YouTube channel next Thursday.

On top of 20.1 in Austin, Texas with Rogue, Panchik, and Froning, BoxRox is reporting 20.2 will be hosted by the Australian CrossFit Championship with 2019 phenom Matt McLeod and Khan Porter. 20.3 will be hosted by the Down Under CrossFit Championship, featuring James Newbury and Madeline Sturt. We also know Australian competition The Torian Pro will be announcing 20.5 in November with Tia-Clair Toomey. It looks to be a big year for Australia.

The Dubai CrossFit Championship took to Instagram today to announce they’ve created a documentary about the 2019 event. It will debut and be featured by Emirates in-flight entertainment systems sometime soon. Book your thousand-dollar ticket today if you want to see it.

The Mid-Atlantic CrossFit Challenge in Washington DC has announced they’re doubling the number of professional athletes competing in 2020. Their field of 20 elite males, females, and teams will be growing to 40. At 120 elite athletes, this event will be something to see.

And, after one heck of a week with three or four news stories, NOBULL is back in this news today. Earlier this week they announced they’re hosting a fitness film festival in New York. Today, it has come to light that they are accepting public submissions to that film festival.

“Long, short, documentary, animated or even previously released content can be submitted for consideration. We’re celebrating films and filmmakers that are doing meaningful work, no gimmicks or commercials will be accepted.”

Visit fitnessfilmfestival.com/submit for more details. The submission window ends on October 30th. Oh, hey! Maybe that Dubai documentary will get featured. Fingers crossed.

And that’s it for news about CrossFit on Friday, October 4th. Thanks for listening. Be sure to rate, review, and subscribe. It’s the best way to give back to the show, because it helps more people find us. I’m Ben Garves.
