Katrin Davidsdottir Naked Behind the Scenes, Weight Loss App for Kids, Jacob Heppner for Charity

-

According to Allure, seen in stores as Allure Magazine, the company formerly known as Weight Watchers has launched a mobile app targeting weight loss for kids. After a recent rebrand from Weight Watchers to their new name, ‘WW’, they are back in the spotlight for their Kurbo by WW app. The announcement has many torn between the idea of enabling the body shaming of kids and the structured fight against childhood obesity.

Kurbo uses an approach developed by Stanford University, which aims to guide kids to better decision making with their food, categorizing foods into three different colors: green for good, yellow for moderation, and red for a big gastric stop sign.

Counterpoint to the potential effectiveness of the app, Allure points out that less than 20 percent of American kids qualify as obese, but eating disorder rates amonng girls can be as high as 57 percent.

I’m super fascinated to hear what you think about this app. You can go to WODDITY.com/news to comment on our show notes about where you fall in the debate. Are we solving a problem, or manufacturing another one? Or both. Join the conversation.

CrossFit Games veteran and YouTube star Jacob Heppner let his mom sell his corgi-laden 2Pood weightlifting belt from the 2019 CrossFit Games on eBay for charity. The belt earned $380 for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “Mom Heppner” noted in the product description that September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month, and Heppner’s sister battled with cancer from 2009 to 2012. She’s selling things all month for the charity, like autographed pictures, which you can find by searching eBay for momhepp2009. Get some good stuff and donate to a good cause.

Heather Lockridge of FloElite sat down with four-time CrossFit Games champion Mat Fraser. They talked through his success in multiple eras of the sport, the growth of CBD usage by athletes, Noah Ohlsen’s breakout year, and more. You can find the full article at floelite.com

This is the story that keeps on truckin’. Like a sled dog. Like a Katrin Davidsdottir sled dog. Katrin Davidsdottir is featured nude, yes, naked, in the last-ever print edition of ESPN magazine, which released yesterday. ESPN has now also released a behind-the-scenes video, in which Davidsdottir sits down to talk her body, posing nude, and the empowerment it gives her.

If you have time to lean, you have time to clean. Today’s CrossFit.com mainsite workout is a rest day.
